The Opening Day Empty The Opening Day

Post by MOTD Media on Tue Apr 10, 2018 12:23 pm

The opening day in MOTD League One sees current league champions Manchester United visit rivals Manchester City as they look to defend their title.
Liverpool who ran them all the way last year and will no doubt be looking to wrench the title from Old Trafford must visit Leicester for their opening game.
While FA Cup Holders Southampton, who just stayed up last year, will no doubt want to do better this season but will that mean not putting as much into the Cups this season after having reached both finals. They also have an away day for the opening game as they visit Portsmouth.
League Cup Holders Arsenal, who saw their manager walk out at the end of the season to go back to his old club, promoted Everton, now have a new man in charge. The fans will be wanting silverware again and they face a derby on opening day as they host Chelsea. He will need a win to get the fans behind him in what could be a long season.
Newly promoted Everton face a tricky away match at currently unmamanged Swansea City while the other promoted team, Watford must go to White Hart Lane for their first game as they face Tottenham Hotspur.

All in all some tricky opening games and with the leagues U21 rule seeing youngsters get their chances their could be some upsets on the cards.
